My site

My personal site is almost finished. I'm still fixing some stuff, but meanwhile you can enjoy the works.

My tales

I just finished the website for Tales from the Golden Age movie by Cristian Mungiu. Oleg Mutu & I took photographs of old communist block of flats interiors especially for this movie.

We used them for the titles movie too, in a re-built collage space seen in a slow-fast movement. I think of it as a return to the past, but one irregular and distorted between walls and stairs, just as it happens with any tale.

The movie opens TIFF and for the first time in five years I'll not be there.

Birthday

today is my birthday and I have new books on my desk.

first the Murakami for my first year of maturity (!?), then Lynott for the past and then and forever Woody.

I'm running fast these days.

Ralutxa

Pavilion, Bucharest

There is a new space for contemporary art & culture in Bucharest. I attended the opening facing an unbelievable cold wind and snow storm. In fact, the same hour I was needed for some badminton game but in the end I chose art. I went into some acquaintances and some connoisseurs d'art or others en train de faire connaissance de... I saw the Clone too, everywhere I go I see this guy, even in Lisbon. Quite hilarious.



So, the new space has an extensive collection / archives ("non-archives, personal and organizational" as they say) of books (a lot of catalogues, newspapers, magazines which make the subject of a long lasting interest in collecting facts, ideas of the initiators of this space). But don't expect tones of books which you saw on the shelves of bookshops and coudn't afford to buy, these are much more personal and kind of not for a general use.
As a first impression, I liked the space and the arrangement and I loved the intimate archives space.

The location is good; I'm not exactly crazy for communist blocks of flats, but they don't blow me up either.

Let's wait for the cream.

Princesa 23

Princessa 23 e un loc in Barcelona in care te duci si dupa aia iar te duci pentru ca deja stii unde e (c/Princessa), iar tipa care serveste la masa ta apare in spoturile barului si e o printesa, iar tipul brunet care se invarte printre mese are orientari sexuale vagi si asta il face adorabil (na ca nu m-am abtinut sa bag cuvantul asta) si consoleaza gagici tinandu-le pe genunchi. Asa ca revelionul de anul asta, asa fara artificii, n-a fost tocmai "bizar" cum zic fetele de pe barca, ba a fost asa firesc, ca a dat in placut si dupa cateva pahare in fain, si numai dupa ce am ciocnit un pahar de obiectivul de la aparat mi-am dat seama ca toate cele bune au un sfarsit si nu a mai durat mult si ne-am si carat la culcare la noi pe c/Ali Bei.



Daca ma intorc la Lisabona de anul trecut, locul de care imi amintesc asa mai tot timpul este cafeneaua la 3 minute de casa, unde servea un tip cu orientari sexuale absolut clare si la fel de adorabil.
Acum habar n-am de ce vad Lisabona filtrata prin diminetile ei si Barcelona, prin noptile ei, dar stiu ca imi plac mai mult diminetile.

The returning

Yes, I came back to Bucharest and back to work.
Right now I develop a new series of drawings based on my feelings regarding the museum mood, the eternity of a museum vs the temporary presence of a person. I'm interested in catching these two entities in that very moment of unification.

Lisbon

I went by chance into some faces I met in Lisbon last year.
I miss so much this city.



In the morning right after the new year I left the others sleeping, took my camera and went on the streets to catch the silence and the fatigue after the long-night parties. These are moments to die for.

Ludovic Debeurme

It was at the end of Animest when I met Ludovic Debeurme. Relaxed times, relaxed people. Talks and tons of interesting ideas pouring from him. It's so refreshing listening a guy talking about his work, his concerns and his thoughs, right in that moment you're so prepared to start to work on something.

With this encounter I practised my awful French... Unfortunatelly it's not all about Vogue and AD magazines...

I still have Ludologie on my bedside table. Meantime I finished some exhausting project and there's time right now to figure what to do next.
